Box Buys Folders App to Upgrade Its iOS App

Box, with more than 150000 business clients and a user base of 15 million, has just bought an unreleased application, “Folders” an iOS app for cloud storage as well as file management front end from developer Martin Destagnol owner of Reedian. Box has developed an iOS application into which the Folders technology will integrate and result in an upgraded version according to Sam Schillace, VP of Engineering at Box. As a result of the integration Box’s iOS app will gain in speed and looks.

The Folders app includes document viewer, photo and video viewer and recording tool, PDF viewer and a music player along with note creation and editing features. IT also has a code viewer that allows you to highlight syntax and line numbers in code written in Javascript, Ruby, C, Java, PHP, CSS and HTML. The original developer, Martin Destagnol of French origin now works as senior technical consultant at Box. The rights sold to Box, he will not launch it as a stand-alone product but will become a full time employee when immigration procedures are over. Box is in an improvement spree with the acquisition of Crocodoc, a document-rendering engine.
